The following word problem is for practicing the application of weight to mass conversions at standard earth gravity.

Example 1:

How many grains are in 7 grams?

To solve this problem, find the given term of weight or mass in the problem and replace the matching term in the conversion factor with that value. Solve the equation to get the answer required by the problem.

Conversion factors: grams × 15.4 = grains
                              grains ÷ 15.4 = grams

7 × 15.4 = grains
7 × 15.4 = 107.8

There are 107.8 grains in 7 grams.
