The following word problem is for practicing the application of english volume conversions.

Example 1:


How many fluid ounces are in 7.2 cubic inches?

To solve this problem use the conversion factor by replacing the given units of measure in the problem with the matching units of measure in the conversion factor and work the problem through to get the solution in terms of units of volume required by the problem.

Conversion factor: fluid ounces × 1.8 = cubic inches
                             cubic inches ÷ 1.8 = fluid ounces
                    

7.2 ÷ 1.8 = fluid ounces
7.2 ÷ 1.8 = 4

There are 4 fluid ounces in 7.2 cubic inches.
